Leye grew up on the edge of the Igen desert, living in a small cothold with her parents and three siblings. Her parents bred race runners, and Leye would help exercise them in the dunes of the desert, every morning and every night. For a very long time, she wanted to be a jockey but grew too tall, and had to make do with exercising the runners. In the end, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a healer and went to the Healer Hall at Ista to join them. A detour - due to a dragon and his rider - saw her at High Reaches Weyr, getting her interview to join the healers by the Journeywoman posted there.
Leywen swore never to return to High Reaches. Far too cold up there! In short order, she was whisked away by Ri'k to the much warmer Ista and was pointed in the right direction of the Healer Hall, where a friendly journeyman (who had already recieved word from Elehu at HRW) showed her to the apprentice quarters, where she bunked down to begin her healer education.
Becoming a mentee of Journeyman Tyran, she was whisked away to Keroon, although her stay there was cut short due to an accident her brother had. Tekin, a guard at High Reaches Weyr, broke his leg, and Leye went there to care for him. And ended up staying, switching mentors from Tyran to Elehu.

Leywen
A short angular nose sits in the middle of an equally angular face with a sharp-edged chin and high cheekbones. Arching over slightly slanting amber eyes are long thin dark eyebrows. Her skin is a dark klah-colored tone, and black hair plaited in several rows of braids have been gathered in a runnerstail reaching just below the level of her shoulders. Her body is lean and well-trained, the thighs and calves of her long legs hardened by long hours of exercises. Breasts are small and round, her cleavage leading up to a long neck, and out to strong shoulders and upperarms.
A loose blouse, dyed wheat-yellow covering her upper body, has been unbuttoned to the point of being indecent, while her legs are surrounded by a flowing skirt, the color of a sunset. Light yellow at the top, dark orange at the bottom. Her feet are clad in simple wherhide sandals, tiestrings grasping at her ankles. Leywen's Listening Tube is slung casually around her neck.
Thick cords of purple and white twist together in a simple knot, looped once and circling her left shoulder. Laced though with deepest black and blue ribbons, it incorporates a small tail and a tassle to signify that she is a senior healer apprentice, posted to High Reaches Weyr.
