The Healer Oath

You go to the Healer Lounge.
You go to the Healer Great Hall.

Healer Great Hall
The ceiling soars surprisingly high in this large room. Comfortable looking chairs are arranged to face the front, where a speaker might stand to address an assembled group. This is also where the Caduceus is prominently displayed for all to see, serving as a reminder daily of the oaths a Healer takes.
On one side of the room is a doorway that leads to the Healer Passage, where the infirmary is located, and towards the main hall of Ista Hold. On the other end of the room at opposite ends of the wall are two more doors, one leading into the Healer Lounge, and living quarters of the Healers posted at the Hall, the other to the Healer Center where all the offices are located and the book learning takes place.
Aerrin and Kalliana are here.

Fareia walks in from the Healer Lounge.

Aerrin is standing near the front of the great hall, pack lying nearby on the floor. As two enter, she glances up with a grin, beckoning toward them. "Ah... hello! You must be Kalliana.. and Fareia?" she questions, though her gaze goes toward the wrong girl with each name. "I'm Journeyman Aerrin."

Kalliana chuckles at Aerrin. "I'm Kalliana, pleased to meet you Journeywoman Aerrin," she answers politely. Briskly, she walks to the back of the hall to watch the Oaths about to be taken.

Fareia blinks at Aerrin and cocks her head. Ookay...Someone just mistook her for Kalliana? Erk.. She rolls her eyes then puts on a pleasant face for the journeyman,"Actually, I'm Fariea," she says with a nod.

Moving into the Hall, Leywen sees not only other appies, but a Journeywoman as well. "Journeywoman Aerrin," she says, giving her a slight nod as she comes closer. "M'name's Leywen."

Aerrin blinks as another enters, head tilting in faint confusion before comprehension dawns on her features. "And Leywen! /You/ are my other person..." She has it figured out. Really. And she's nice and efficient, too. "Leywen, please approach and kneel before the caduceus." Her tone rises, both in volume and in tone as she slides easily into the formal manner of Oathing.

Leywen swallows as she comes closer neeling down on one knee. Did it have to be two? Or could she just stay here on one? She looks up at the journeywoman, her smile still there, though a little strained with the severity of the situation.

Fareia watches Leywen, standing over near the side, watching Leywen, shifting from foot to foot, anxiously awaiting her turn. Her hair is habitually brushed out from her face as it falls into her eyes every few moments.

Aerrin smiles slowly, gaze fixing on Leywen as she continues. "Please place your dominant hand on the caduceus.. this symbolizes that you are pledging your strength and skill to the HealerCraft."

Leywen's right hand comes up to be place lightly on the caduceus, her eyes moving from it to the journeywoman and back, wondering whether she ought to say something or not. She decides to keep her mouth closed as her smile fades slightly to be replaced by a serious look on her face.

Aerrin continues, voice rising a bit louder. "Repeat after me, please. I swear to honor the HealerCraft with my works, my words, and my deeds." Her smile grows just a bit, and her gaze flickers beyond Leywen for a moment toward the others.

"I swear to honor the HealerCraft with my works, my words, and my deed," Leywen says, her voice almost trembling as she repeats the words, looking up at Aerrin, a tiny smile returning to her face. It just felt so right!

Aerrin's smile grows in response to Leywen's, and her voice grows louder still as she reaffirms her own Oaths. "I swear to place the needs of my patients above my own comfort and safety."

Seeing Aerrin smile, Leywen allows her own to spread a fraction more as she continues her Oath; "I swear to place the needs of my patients above my own comfort and safety."

"And I swear that my first objective will always be to do no harm," Aerrin finishes, grinning just a bit wider.

"And I swear that my first objective will always be to do no harm," Leywen repeats, looking down for a moment, then up, her eyes a little questioning. Done?

Aerrin steps backward a bit, bending to retrieve a folded white cloth - a robe - and a purple knot that lies starkly against the pristine white. "Then rise, Healer Apprentice Leywen," she intones with as much ceremony as she can muster. The folded cloth and knot are stretched toward her. "And take your place amoung the Healers of Pern." That done, the formal smile breaks into a large grin. "And welcome to the Hall!"

A grin breaks out onto Fareia's face as Leywen finshes her oaths, the happiness contagious.

Leywen practically beams as she recieves the robe and knot, holding it lightly in her hands, as she glances around at Fareia, beaming a smile at her too. "Thank you, Journeywoman Aerrin," she finally remembers to say as she takes a few steps backward to allow Fareia in.

Aerrin doesn't reply, though her gaze shifts toward Fareia. "Fariea," she intones, moving into formality again. "Please approach and kneel before the caduceus, placing your dominant hand on it as a symbol that you are pledging your strength and skills to the HealerCraft."

Fareia's smile fades away into a serious expression again as she makes her way over to the caduceus, kneeling, letting a nervous smile break onto her face as she places her left hand on the caduceus, suppressing another nervous giggle.

Aerrin's smile flickers to an amused one for just a moment before she recomposes her expression into one of formal seriousness. "Repeat after me, please...I swear to honor the HealerCraft with my works, my words, and my deeds"

Leywen's fingers run up and down the cloth of the robe, but keeps coming back to the knot fingering it as she watches Fareia take the Oath. Keeping quiet, of course. Just watching.

Fareia forces her face back into the picture of solemnity and takes a deep breath to prevent her self from bursting out laughing and repeats,"I swear to honor the HealerCraft with me works, my words, and my deeds."

Aerrin continues swiftly. "I swear to place the needs of my patients above my own comfort and safety."

Fareia runs her tongue across her teeth and adds,"I swear to place the needs of my patients above my own comfort and safety."

Aerrin draws in a deep breath, palms spreading as she finishes with a faint smile. "And I swear that my first objective will always be to do no harm," she finishes, already stepping backward to claim another pile of white and purple.

"And I swear that my first objective will always be to do no harm," she says, finally calming, she hopes, as she looks eagerly at Aerrin with a grin.
OOC: Fareia claims that.

Aerrin's smile widens again, and she stretches the white fabric toward the new apprentice. "Then rise, Healer Apprentice Fareia, and welcome to the Healer Hall!"

Fareia stands up, recieving the robe, with a grin, a small, nearly inaudible squek sounding from her for a giggle.

Leywen straightens her back, standing erect as she watches Fareia finish her Oath, beaming a smile at the woman as she accepts her cloth and knot. Not wanting to break the silence, she nods to the other appy her smile broading to the point of breaking the corners of her mouth.

Aerrin's grins appears again, and she steps forward to claim her pack as her formality fades. "Have you both been settled into the dorms?" she questions.

Fareia finally bursts out giggling then after a few gasps of breath she nods to Aerrin,"Just finished organizing my stuff before I came." Someone better take a picture of Farie right now because you most likely won't see her in such a happy mood any other time.

Leywen nods, turning to the journeywoman, "yes, journeywoman Aerrin. I've already been here quite a while," she says, looking at the other appy. She hold the bundle of white cloth into her chest, hugging it tight as if someone might take it away from her.

"Well then.. Leywen, I don't suppose you want to show Fareia to the dorms?" Aerrin remarks, still grinning as she tugs on the straps of her pack to adjust them. "I've just gotten into the Hall myself.. want to drop my own things off."

Leywen nods, looking from the journeywoman to her fellow apprentice, "it's just this way, Fareia," she says moving in the direction of the dorms, tossing her head as she moves, making her braids dance around her shoulders.

Fareia cocks her head at the girl,"Uhm...I was just there...I think I remember where it is," she comments, walking past Leywen towards the lounge, planning on sitting on a chair and flipping through that notebook they give you.

You go to the Apprentice Dormitory.

Apprentice Dormitory
The apprentice dorm has windows with metal shutters on two of its four walls and two columns of cots with their heads against each long wall. The grey walls are covered with tapestries of dragons fighting thread, the rolling green hills of Ruatha and one that is centered on the east wall that has the HealerSong woven into it. In the center of the room, a pair of tables offer the apprentices somewhere to study, and a large wardrobe near them holds many cubbyholes, filled with personal belongings and the neat white robes of Apprentice Healers.
