Ista Hold Main Courtyard
Built into the side of a hard granite cliff, Ista Hold looms dominantly to the
west. Windows pock the smooth surface of the cliff in neat rows until they get
closer to the ground, where they begin to frame the great bronze doors leading
into the Hold itself. A sea breeze seems constantly in the air here as the ocean
and the wharf lay but dragonlengths to the east. Beaches are scattered to the
north, recreational areas for the Hold's residents when not working.
It is an autumn before dawn.
Perched on a windowsill are Sofia, Ruhig, Romain, Quelm, Taisei, Tempest, and
Barq.
Brown Hoth and Brown Dsalth are here.
You see OOC Rules, Antony, Shanti, Jarrilen's Cot, Head Wagon, Hikaru's Machin
(RayEarth), Big Mac, and Second Wagon here.
You notice Yulianna, Brid, Liyalaain, Vivyca, Brinleah, Fango, and Rivya asleep
here.
P'rru and Faisal are here.
Faisal nods, as if that explains a lot, befor his brain processes Dsalth movement, at which he straightens. "No Sir." He starts, but then can't contain himself any more, "Well prehaps, I mean you are a dragonrider," he shakes his head a bit as he makes teh obvious point, "What I mean is," he leans forward, and lowers his voice, glancing up at Dsalth, pretending everything's normal, "They don't hurt people do they?" he asks with a small nod to Dsalth.
Leywen comes walking into the courtyard from the beach, her skirt swishing around her ankles, her hips moving, and her head turned to the sky when she almost bumps into a dragon.
Dsalth is peering at Faisal with such an intensity that the bump isn't noticed. Mwah. Browrider blinks up at his dragon, brow furrowing, yet he says not a word. Slowly that rosewood maw gapes, revealing rows over bluinted yellowing teeth and an oddly musky scent. They don't hurt people. "Of course not, show's over, lughead" P'rru reprimands the dragon with a sigh. "We fly against thread, lad, to protect people- they'd never considering hurting one of us" Dsalth, with maw stil open, swings towards Leywen, jaw clamping shut near her face with a snap.
Leywen jumps back, almost tripping over her own feet, her nose wrinkling at the smell coming from the dragon's breath. Seeing who his rider is, she smiles though, "oh, hello again brownrider, P'rru," she says, stepping around the dragon's maw to come nearing the rider and his.. Friend?
Faisal might have heard P'rru's words, but Dsalth's action sure make a big impression. "That's what I understood." He replies, with more than a hint of doubt. He nods to Leywen.
P'rru chuckles "Leywen! How did you fare at the gather after I needed
to make a quick exit...." but brownrider's eyes suddenly blank and Dsalth
demures, nudging him with snout. "Oh shells, I'm needed back at the weyr-
please, my apologies for the interuption" Purr bows and swings up onto
Dsalth whose rather behaving well.
P'rru swings up to ease himself between defined neckridges
Dsalth goes home.
Faisal's eyes follow the dragon, and his face screws up in thought.
Leywen hmms, "he does that a lot," she mumbles, giving the other a slight smile, crossing her arms lightly over her chest. "D'you know him, then?"
Faisal shakes his head slowly, "I was just out on a walk." he replies softly, then pulling himself back together, he is reminded of his manners, "I'm Faisal, well met." he says formally, but a grin is returning to his face.
"Nice to meet you, Faisal, I'm Leywen," the young woman says, returning his grin. "It is nice for a walk, isn't it?" She brings her arms to her back then looks toward the Hold. "I was actually looking for the Healer Hall...."
Teobald walks down some steps which lead to the great doors and the Hold.
Leywen turns her head, hearing footsteps coming from the Hold, and smiles as she sees a healer journeyman coming, giving him a polite nod. "Hello, journeyman. I was just telling Faisal here that I was looking for the Healer Hall.." Some coincidence, eh?
Faisal spins around to follow Leywen's voice, "You'r in luck!" His grin widens.
Teobald slowly walks in, one hand stuffed in a jacket pocket and the other balled in a fist in front of his mouth to ward off a rather obtrusive yawn. After muttering something about late night infirmary duty he squints through the dark walks towards the others. "Good evening," he mumbles, barely intelligble. "Well, morning really." Faisal's comment receives a mere arching of the brow. "Luck? Do you need any help?"
Faisal just shakes his head, pointing to Leywen.
Smiling, Leywen introduces herself to the journeyman, giving him a nod, "I'm Leywen, journeyman, and I wish to join the Healer Hall."
Teobald furrows his bushy eyebrows for a moment as he frowns. Suddenly his face brightens however and he holds out a hand. "Leywen, of course! You met Elehu up at High Reaches." He's not asking, just stating a fact. And assuming everyone will agree. "I hope you don't mind, but she sent word that you might show up."
Faisal's posure relaxes a bit, his hand strays to push a strand of hair behind an ear which peaks at the sound of 'Reaches. That seems to be everywhere lately... He backs up slowly, drawing himself out of the conversation.
Leywen shakes her head, smiling. At least she didn't have to tell everything again.. She hopes. "Yes, I had a nice talk with journeywoman Elehu," she says, almost adding that it was far too cold for the desertgirl's tastes up there. "Ri'k was nice enough to give me a ride.."
Teobald smiles a little, though it seems an effort on that gruff face. "Good, very good. Well, Ele sent high recommendations, so whenever you're ready I can help you get situated in the Hall. My tame is Teobald, by the way. Traveling Healer, Teo for short," he adds, again in that matter-of-fact voice.
"Pleased to meet you, journeyman Teo," Leywen says, still smiling. Always in a good mood, this girl, especially if the journeywoman had given her recommendations. "Ley, for short," she continues, chuckling.
Faisal , not wishing to disturb, gives a quick waves, and a short "Bye." before making tracks inside.
Faisal walks up a few small steps and passes into the Hold through the great doors.
Teobald nods shortly and sticks his hands back in his pockets while glancing back at Faisal. Slowly his face falls a bit and he eyes Leywen. "I didn't interrupt, did I?" he asks, for the first time real emotion actually coloring his voice.
Leywen waves a dismissive hand, her eyes following the harper as he takes his
leave. "Oh no, I only just met him... And there was a dragonrider here
earlier.. He had to leave too," she says, shrugging, as she still smiles,
though not as broadly as before.
Teobald nods yet again, the worry on his face now gone. "Ah. Well, that's
good I suppose. Um... care to see the Hall?" he finally asks, gesturing
with one hand back towards the main Ista Hold.
Leywen nods enthusiastically, her smile broadening again, "yes, I would please, that would be wonderful," she says, her eyes turning from the journeyman to the way he gestures.
Teobald walks up a few small steps and passes into the Hold through the great doors.
You walk up a few small steps and pass into the Hold through the great doors.
Great Hall
With a dome-shaped ceiling reaching up almost beyond the light cast by numerous
glows surrounding the hall, this room can be none other than the Hold's great
hall. The floor is solid grey stone, slightly worn from the hundreds of Turns
of use it's been through. Four `tapestries' hang around the hall at seemingly
random intervals, coloring the otherwise dull hall. An assortment of tables
and chairs and couches are strewn about the hall for any who wish to take a
rest during their labors, but mostly people are using the great hall as a center
for moving to other places. Archways and doors lead everywhere, but the most
dominant doors are the great double doors to the east, leading out to the courtyard.
Gliding around are Hai and Hexidecimal.
You see Teobald here.
Teobald smiles politely and gestures now towards the south. "There are quite a few crafthalls here in the hold. The Healer craft is right down this passageway."
Leywen nods, making a show of looking around the great hall, even if she's been here before. "Yes, I'd heard that.." she says, following the journeyman to the passageway.
Teobald walks into the Healer Crafthall.
You walk through an archway into the Harper's crafthall.
You walk into the Healer Hall.
Healer Passage
This passage is the linkage from the main hold of Ista to the main Healer Hall.
Off to the side you can see the door to the infirmary, and that is where you
need to go if you want the help of a healer. Straight ahead you can see a light
spilling in from the Great Hall of the Healer Hall. The passage is well lit
with glows that show how sparkling clean the hallway is.
You see Sheena, Jibril, and Teobald here.
Teobald motions off to the side from the passageway. "That, as you can probably see, is the infirmary here. Anything you'll possibly need for Healing should be in that room. However, the main part of the Hall is down this way," he explains, continuing on.
Teobald walks to the Healer Great Hall.
You go to the Healer Great Hall.
Healer Great Hall
The ceiling soars surprisingly high in this large room. Comfortable looking
chairs are arranged to face the front, where a speaker might stand to address
an assembled group. This is also where the Caduceus is prominently displayed
for all to see, serving as a reminder daily of the oaths a Healer takes.
On one side of the room is a doorway that leads to the Healer Passage, where
the infirmary is located, and towards the main hall of Ista Hold. On the other
end of the room at opposite ends of the wall are two more doors, one leading
into the Healer Lounge, and living quarters of the Healers posted at the Hall,
the other to the Healer Center where all the offices are located and the book
learning takes place.
Relaxed among the vaulting beams are Peppermint, Zim, Elspeit, Kain, Dash, and
Emeraude.
You see Jiayi, Squished Tomatoes in Random Places in the Hall, Caduceus, and
Teobald here.
Leywen looks up as she comes into the Hall, her eyes following the outlines of the ceiling. "I like it here," she decides, even without having seen the whole place.
Teobald chuckles softly as he glances around, pointing out the various hallways. Finally he turns to Leywen. "So... want to find out where you bunk quickly? I need to get back to my watch in the infirmary before that appie falls asleep."
Leywen nods, tearing her eyes away from the high ceiling and her surroundings to look at the journeyman. "Certainly, journeyman," she says, "I think, I could do with a little sleep myself.."
Teobald nods slowly, and with one last worried look towards the Healer passage he heads instead towards the Healer Lounge with a "right this way" comment.
Teobald walks to the Healer Lounge.
You go to the Healer Lounge.
Healer Lounge
This is a very cozy room where Healers often spend their free time relaxing,
talking, and participating in a little recreation. Dotted about the room are
small tables and big comfy looking chairs that are great for sitting down and
talking in. Also there are tables set up around the room with chairs set at
them, to be used for studying, or any other activity that might need the support
of a table.
In one wall is the doorway that leads into the Healer Great Hall, and the rest
of the Hall. Other doorways are quietly recessed around the room, leading off
to the various quarters of the Healers. One leads to the Apprentice Dorms, another
to the hallway that houses the rooms of Journeymen and Masters, and a third
that leads to the children's area.
Loitering about are Snack and Shazam.
You see Corwin, Kamaria, Rarah's Dice, Zara's Gift, and Teobald here.
You notice Mosiah and Merced asleep here.
"Oohhh, this looks nice and cozy," Leywen says coming into the lounge behind the journeyman.
Teobald grins just a little and gestures with a nod of the head towards the Apprentice Dormitory before walking towards it. "You'll want to pick out a cot in here, store you things, but no funny stuff," he warns with a smirk. "And by that... you'll learn in your first classes as a Healer." Such a tease.
Teobald walks to the Apprentice Dormitory.
You go to the Apprentice Dormitory.
Apprentice Dormitory
The apprentice dorm has windows with metal shutters on two of its four walls
and two columns of cots with their heads against each long wall. The grey walls
are covered with tapestries of dragons fighting thread, the rolling green hills
of Ruatha and one that is centered on the east wall that has the HealerSong
woven into it. In the center of the room, a pair of tables offer the apprentices
somewhere to study, and a large wardrobe near them holds many cubbyholes, filled
with personal belongings and the neat white robes of Apprentice Healers.
Perched up on the robe cabinet are Blacky, Cobalt, Deya, Lasura, Bando, dritz,
and Fizban.
You see Tamlyn's Cot, Amelia's Hammock, Amanya's Snug Hammock, Tyjan's cot,
Esmaya's Hammock, Melora's Notebook, Nynaeve's Hammock, Moe's Hammock, Sacora's
Cot, ganeric, ganeric_object, Mystic, Nero's Hammock, Ledah's lovely abode,
Rysha, Miravia's Cot, Kalliana's Cot, and Teobald here.
You notice Tyjan, Yuri, Tamlyn, Fuukiri, Lythande, Astarae, Amynal, Tabitha,
Sacora, Gwycla, Tolney, Ashira, Caimile, Helenna, Allison, Nero, Raeyn, Eleia,
Kallistra, Miravia, Phea, and Kalliana asleep here.
Foris is here.
Leywen looks around the dorms, trying to find a free cot to claim as her own. Seeing one, she moves quickly to it, placing her pack on top of it, then sits next to it. "Thank you so much for showing me around, journeyman Teo," she says, giving him a smile. Just can't help smiling, this girl.
Teobald stops just inside the doorway and nods, again offering a polite smile. "I do what I can, Apprentice Leywen," he replies. "Now, just settle in, take the next few days to get acquainted with the Hall and your fellow Healers. Soon you'll be sworn in, receive your intro classes, and be well on your way."
"Thank you, again," Leywen says, nodding to the journeyman. She grabs her pack and stores it under her selfclaimed cot, straightens and looks around the dorms once more. "I think I'm going to like it here..."
Teobald nods one last time and heads out the door.
Teobald walks to the Healer Lounge.
